Four Men Arrested For Assault and Robbery; OCPD Schedules Tests for Applicants

Posted on June 21, 2012

Ocean City Police are everywhere: on bicycles, in patrol cars, on horses, and undercover. Visitors who think they can get away with a crime because they’re far from home tend to be chased down, arrested, and wind up in jail.

In some cases, they might not be going home again anytime soon.

For example, Ocean City Police on bicycle patrol witnessed an alleged assault and robbery at about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday morning, June 19, near Philadelphia Avenue and 1st Street. Four suspects fled, but were quickly caught and arrested. They were visitors from Harrisburg, PA. At last report, three men remained in jail on $25,000 bond, and one juvenile was in custody of juvenile authorities.

BTW, do you like to be outside? Like working with people? Need a good job? Would you like to live in a resort area? I understand the Ocean City Police Dept. has scheduled testing for applicants in August. It will be the first of several testing opportunities to be scheduled in coming months. The testing is to qualify applicants for possible year-round job openings, and for seasonal police officer jobs for the 2013 season.

The written test and physical abilities test will be at the Ocean City Convention Center on the Aug. 11.  Applicants must arrive between 7:00 and 8:00 am.  Doors will be locked at 8:00 am. Oral interviews for successful applicants will be held at the Public Safety Building on August 12.  Times will be given to applicants on the 11th.

The OCPD is also hiring public safety aides. For detailed information about police employment opportunities, please go to the OCPD Web page.
