WINTERFEST OF LIGHTS SIGN WELCOMES YOU TO OCEAN CITY.

The snowy Christmas Nor’easter forced Ocean City to shut down the Winterfest of Lights at Northside Park for one night on Monday night.

But I just talked to City Hall this afternoon, and Winterfest of Lights will be open tonight, Tuesday, and remain open through the New Year’s weekend just ahead.

A RESTAURANT DECKED IN CHRISTMAS LIGHTS AT 94TH ST. IN OCEAN CITY. MANY OF THE LARGER HOTELS AND RESTAURANTS WILL BE OPEN NEW YEAR'S WEEKEND.

Winterfest is at Northside Park, 125th St. and the Bay. Hours are 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 5:30 to 10:30 Friday and Saturday nights. The final night for Winterfest will be Jan. 2.

State highway crews have been busy plowing the Coastal Highway in Ocean City, and driving in town is about back to normal. On Baltimore Avenue, Philadelphia Avenue and the Coastal Highway, two travel lanes are clear in both directions at most places.

However, a few lanes remain snow-covered, and water and slush on the streets will probably freeze tonight. Please use caution when driving, especially at night, in Ocean City, or anywhere on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.

Monday and Tuesday had bright sunshine all day on the Eastern Shore, with plenty of melting snow. High temperature in Ocean City on Tuesday is about 37. The outlook is for continued sunny weather and a warming trend through the weekend.

I’ll try to post some photos from this year’s Winterfest lights on Wednesday as a warm-up for New Year’s.
