Ocean City Troubadours

Posted on June 15, 2010

Ocean City Maryland is brimming with singer-songwriters. If I were still getting paid to be a reporter, I would have done a better job, and gotten the name of the above musician, who was entertaining for free in front of the Dough Roller on the Boardwalk at 3rd St. Tips welcome. (I don’t know how often he’s there).

One of the best-kept secrets in OC is the Jungle Bar on the oceanfront deck at the Plaza Condos, 98th Street and Coastal Highway. The outdoor, oceanfront bar is open to the public, shaded in afternoon and evening. Sandwiches, subs and such, and of course beverages, from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. (depending on the weather). Park in the very last row (nearest the highway) of the Plaza lot. Or you can park across the street at the empty shopping mall lot.

John%20LaMereQuantcastPlease note, the Jungle Bar is a family place. You’ll also see lots of middle-aged and senior-citizen types chilling out for lunch and happy hour, and enjoying the music, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., lots of evenings.

Singer-songwriter John LaMere is outstanding on Friday evenings, and so is Kenny on Sunday and Monday evenings. Tuesdays, 3-6 p.m., is children’s entertainment. Be advised, only food and drink purchased from the Jungle Bar can be consumed on the Plaza deck.

Great food in the Jungle Bar’s cozy indoor restaurant, open for dinner at 5 p.m.
