Ocean City Ready for Memorial Day Weekend

Posted on May 21, 2009

Wednesday, mid-week before Memorial Day Weekend, was a perfect May day in Ocean City, Maryland — warm, sunny, and lazy.

The Boardwalk is open for business, everyone wearing shorts and short-sleeves. It was warm enough for the beach on Wednesday, but only a handful of sunbathers on the sand. The sun was bright and hot enough for a sunburn, the sky clear and the air crisp. The Inlet Parking Lot was wide open, only a few scattered cars. Ocean City police who will be patrolling on bicycle were practicing bike maneuvers in the middle of the parking lot.

The resort’s all-new official Web site is ready for prime time. Take a look at www.ococean.com.

Repaving work is complete on all four lanes of the Route 50 bridge into downtown Ocean City. Workmen are hurrying to finish the new sidewalk on the north side of the bridge. Both the Route 50 and the Route 90 bridges into Ocean City will have all lanes open for the weekend.

Last weekend (hot cars) and the weekend before (Springfest) were successful preliminaries — good crowds and nice weather. But Memorial Day weekend is showtime, the weekend everyone has been waiting for, wishing for, preparing for.
