It’s official. Yesterday was the last day of winter, and the first day of spring.

Here in Ocean City, Maryland, on the first weekend of spring, 2009, we have bright sunshine and temperatures in the low 50s. There’s a bit of traffic on Coastal Highway, and the parking lots at the Convention Center are filled for the Home, Condo & Garden Show and Arts & Crafts Fair. Lots of people enjoying the Boardwalk, where quite a few shops are open for business.

You can find a couple of great photos of Assateague Island’s wild horses on the Ocean City, Maryland, Blog.

I expect we’ll see yellow forsythia blooming before the week is out, somewhere in Maryland. Wouldn’t be surprised if the forsythia has already started in St. Mary’s County and Charles County.

The Japanese Cherry Blossom trees around the Tidal Basin in Washington should be in peak bloom from about Apr. 3 to about Apr. 9. — Bernie
