Ocean City Freezes Pay Increases

Posted on February 3, 2009

Ocean City has put a freeze on pay increases for town workers. The City Council voted last night to eliminate both cost-of-living and merit pay raises from the austerity budget it will pass this spring.

The town also has a freeze on hiring. The decision on pay increases does not affect Police Department employees, who are covered under a contract with the Fraternal Order of Police.

Ocean City, Maryland, Blog broke the news of the freeze on pay raises last night. The MSM will get around to the story sometime later in the week. For more on the economic climate in Ocean City, see the OC Blog.
