Problems and Solutions

Posted on October 22, 2007

We often focus on problems. Maryland media and politicians are in that mode regarding Gov. Martin O’Malley’s tax package.

It is more helpful to focus on solutions and problem-solving. O’Malley has proposed a comprehensive solution to Maryland’s structural deficit.  He’s called a special session of the General Assembly to consider the solution. It would be good if the media and politicians could get past the stage of finding problems with the governor’s proposed solution. It would be better if they could focus on the solution.

My guess, or maybe it’s my hope, is that when the special session begins, Maryland’s senators and delegates will choose to be part of the solution, not part of the problem.  –Bernie
