How To Find Assistance In The Recession

It’s official. We’re in a recession, and it started a year ago, last December.

And just in time for the recession, Maryland unveils a new Web information service. You can access a wealth of information on public assistance and services at  www.problemsolver.maryland.gov.

Numerous services are listed under the following headings: Children and families, Seniors and disabled, Education, Shelter and housing, Employment, Transportation, Food, Finances, Utilities and energy, Health, and Veterans.

The Problemsolver also links to an “assistance eligibility calculator,” where people can figure out if they qualify for services, such as Food Stamps, Medical Assistance, and Energy Assistance. There’s also a link to assistance application forms.

No one should ever hesitate to apply for the help they need.  – Bernie Hayden
